Carson station is the first station after Highway 277 to the south, it opened on November 24, 2007, and is part of the original route of the Blue Line Light Rail. It has access through sidewalks; it has two platforms with six covered waiting areas with benches, it also has ticket vending machines, an emergency call service, and a bike rack. This station is connected to bus line 12. This station is full of art, including a drinking fountain designed by Nancy Blum that reflects the North Carolina state flower, dogwood. There is also art by Alice Adams, Leticia Huerta, and Shaun Cassidy. Near the station, there are several breweries and restaurants, and there are live music venues. Many people walk their dogs, walk or run, and you can also ride a bike or electric scooter. Important buildings near this station include the Spectrum News building, the YMCA Dowd, the pink Arlington building, and many new apartment buildings for housing and offices.
